Suspect ID'd and charged in Granger Township crash that killed Columbus man

MEDINA COUNTY - The Ohio State Highway Patrol  filed charges against 22-year-old Mateo Ralios Delacruz for a fatal crash that involved two vehicles on June 13.

The crash took place on state Route 18 between Beach Road and SR 94 in Granger Township.

On the day of the crash, Delacruz had given his identity as 20-year-old Gilberto Ralios. Troopers said the ID was false and Delacruz was an undocumented immigrant from Guatemala.

Delacruz was driving in a 2006 Ford Fusion when he went left of center and he struck a car driven by Eric Kaskevic, 34, of Strongsville. 

The passenger in Kaskevic's car, Chad Nelson, 29 of Columbus, died as a result of the crash.

The car Delacruz was driving was also reported as stolen by its owner, the patrol said.

Delacruz is charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular assault, receiving stolen property, falsification and OVI with a blood alcohol concentration level of .123.

Delacruz is currently in the Medina County Jail awaiting arraignment.
