AKRON, Ohio - The Akron house that has been busted twice for methamphetamine labs in the last few months caught on fire Thursday night.
Akron fire officials said the fire is at 926 Chester Ave., which is just down the street from Smith Elementary School.
Firefighters don't know the cause of the fire.
On Tuesday, U.S. Marshals went to the house looking for a wanted woman, but instead smelled a strong odor of chemicals. Akron police said Steven P. Thornton was cooking meth. He was arrested on several drug-related charges.
In December, police arrested eight people, including Thornton, at the house for a meth lab. They also removed an 8-year-old boy who attends the nearby school. The boy's mother and the owner of the home were among those charged.
