CANTON, Ohio - Ohio State's Michael Bernard, already the youngest to ever win an Ohio Amateur title, shot a 3-under-par 68 at windy and wet Brookside Country Club on Thursday to pull into a tie with first-round leader Corey Richmond heading into the final 18 holes of the rain-shortened tournament.
Bernard, who captured the 2010 championship at the age of 16, followed an opening 5-under 66 and was at 8-under 134 with Richmond, a Northern Kentucky University senior, who shot a 71 more than two days after his opening 63.
A shot back is Coastal Carolina's Andrew Dorn (69). At 137 is recent High Point graduate Chase Wilson (70).
The tournament was cut from 72 to 54 holes by thunderstorms that disrupted the first two days of play.
