Forecast: Clouds & cold tonight; a wintry mix on Friday

CLEVELAND - 8:00 pm Update: Dry weather is in the forecast for tonight and again tomorrow. Clouds will thicken up a bit overnight. We'll see lows dropping back to between 17 & 20 degrees.

More clouds are expected on Thursday. I wouldn't be surprised to see some sunshine mixing in at times. Current computer forecasts hold back the precipitation until early Friday morning. So, I'll cautiously keep it dry thru the daylight hours.

The next and final Alberta Clipper will arrive Friday morning. Right now, it looks like the precipitation could start out as rain especially east of Interstate 77 from Cleveland to Canton as a surge of milder air moves north into Ohio. The rain should quickly change to snow during the afternoon as colder air arrives behind the Clipper cold front. Right now, we'll go with 1-3" of snow accumulations area-wide. This will likely lead to slippery conditions, especially for the afternoon rush hour on Friday. Stay tuned!

Update: Pleasantly chilly sunshine has pumped temps up to near 30 across northern Ohio with upper 20s in some spots.

Update: We're seeing plenty of sun along the lakeshore - and temps are in the mid to uper 20s. The clearing line is moving south towards Akron-Canton.

Clouds will thicken a bit tonight out ahead of our next storm, but we will warm on Thursday into the mid and upper 30s.

Update: Flurries are still possible this morning, but they won't last much longer. High pressure is already clearing the sky in western Ohio. Expect gradual clearing from north to south by afternoon.
Most areas received less than 1" of snow last night. I can't rule out a few flurries this morning, but they won't disrupt the commute. Temperatures are in the upper 20s under cloudy skies.

As high pressure builds in from the west, expect gradual clearing after lunchtime. Clouds may linger in far eastern Ohio until late afternoon. Highs will hit the upper 20s.

Clouds increase again tonight as a warm front approaches. Lows will fall to 19 degrees.

Mild temperatures in the upper 30s are in store Thursday under mainly cloudy skies. A cold front/clipper system arrives early Friday, triggering a mix of rain and snow for the morning commute.

Saturday will be dry and pleasant with breaks of sun and highs near 30.

Temperatures really soar Sunday and Monday ahead of our next cold front. Highs will hit the mid-40s with rain likely Sunday night through Monday morning. Temperatures fall to the 30s Tuesday with a few lake effect snow showers.
