Forecast: Light snow chances return for Sunday with better chances at snow Monday

CLEVELAND - I'm Meteorologist Jason Nicholas continuing our weather web coverage today.  For more weather updates, follow me on Twitter @ JasonNweather and also on Facebook here.

Snow is lingering across the area, but slowly it will begin to taper. I expect an additional 1-3 inches tonight.

We'll again see a good chance at snow for Sunday as another clipper moves through. Highs will only reach to near 20 with a possible 1-3 inches of snow during the day. Later on Sunday, lake effect could get going, NE of Cleveland.

Ashtabula county is under a Lake Effect Snow Watch starting Sunday afternoon thru Monday night.

Update: Light to briefly moderate snow will continue through the afternoon. By sunset most areas will have a widespread 3-6" on fresh new snow on the ground. Where the snow lingers, a local reading of up to 6" is possible. Be careful on the roads if you are heading out. Untreated roads will feel the biggest impact. Temperatures will slowly rise into the 20s but don't expect it to feel warmer. Wind chill swill hold in the teens and single digits all day.

8:20am Update: Moderate snow is moving through Lake, Geauga and Portage Counties. Expect 1/2 to 1 inch as this pushes through. That is enough the put a quick coating on the roads so be sure to take it easy this morning. Closer to the middle part of the day we'll see another batch of moderate snow push through. Another 1 to 2 inches is likely before sunset.

This arctic air has settled into Ohio and will stick around for the next several days. We'll continue to deal with temperatures holding in the teens and 20s. If you have any plans outdoors, make sure to dress in layers. We aren't expecting stong winds this weekend but any wind at all when it gets this cold makes it feel even colder!

Along with the arctic air, we are in the direct path of 4 separate clipper systems. Throughout Saturday, expect light to briefly moderate snow adding another 1 to 3 inches of new snow, area-wide. The snow will end this evening as we get ready for another quick shot of snow Sunday.

Sunday's snow, again will be widespread. Any new snow should stay less than 2" through the afternoon. As you're heading to and from you Super Bowl activities, plan on cold temperatures in the 20s and light snow on the roads.

Another clipper will rush through late Monday and into Tuesday giving us yet another widespread 1-3" of new snow followed by a couple dry days. As we dry out, temperatures will rebound back into the 30s before our next chance of snow arrives Friday nd into next weekend.
