Cleveland police are investigating two fatal shootings that happened Monday night on the city's east side.

The first shooting took place on the 10600 block of Dove Avenue around 8:10 p.m.

Police said 39-year-old Douglas Clements was parked in a driveway in a Chevrolet Aveo when an SUV drove by and started firing shots.

When officers arrived they found Clements with a gunshot wound to the torso. Police administered first aid until EMS arrived. He was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center for treatment but later died from his injuries.

A passenger, who was in the vehicle with Clements was not injured, police said.

About 25 minutes later, another man was shot on the 1160 block of East 123rd Street.

When officers arrived, they found a 24-year-old man laying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.  Police treated the man until EMS arrived and he was taken to a nearby hospital. He died a short time later.

According to authorities, the victim had been outside with a group of people when a tan sedan drove by, fired several shots and struck the 24-year-old.

Authorities are withholding the man's name until next of kin have been notified.

No suspect information has been released in either shooting.
