WINDSOR, Ohio — Windsor firefighters rescued two people stuck in mud at the bottom of a 40-foot embankment Wednesday night in Ashtabula County.
A man and a woman were trapped in mud and silt along Phelps Creek, according to a Facebook post by the Windsor Fire Department. The man was sunk in mud up to his knees and was quickly removed. The woman was stuck up to her waist.
It took about an hour to extricate the two people, the post states. The man did not need to be transported to the hospital, but the woman was flown by medevac to a downtown trauma center for hypothermia and evaluation.
Orwell, Middlefield and SCAD provided mutual air, the post states. Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers also assisted in making it a smooth operation, Windsor fire officials said.
It took about two hours to clean the equipment and put it back in service, the post states.
