Two children who were critically injured in an Akron house fire Thursday evening have died.

Akron fire officials identified the girls as 12-year-old Jada Snowden and 5-year-old Kymeria Cody.

The fire started around 11:30 p.m. at a home on the 1280 block of Seward Avenue.

The children were unresponsive by the time crews got to them. They were transported to Akron Children's Hospital where they later died.

An Akron Public Schools spokesperson said Kymeria was in Kindergarten at Schumacher elementary school. Jada was in 7th grade at Buchtel Community Learning Center.

Kymera was a youth cheerleader for the West Griffins football league. The league is taking donations for the family at Sunday's playoff games at Erie Island School.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

A GoFundMe pagewith a goal of $5000 has been set up to help the family.
