The East Cleveland Fire Department is fighting a large fire at a controversial dump site along Noble Road.

According to neighbors, the fire started before sunrise Saturday morning. They say the dump has been a nuisance for years.

Euclid Avenue is closed between Ivanhoe and Noble due to fire truck hoses stretched across the roadway.

The fire is burning at the top of a large pile of trash and debris is sending thick smoke due east.

Firefighters from Euclid and other cites are assisting East Cleveland in containing the spread of the fire.

Residents said have been fighting for years to have the dump cleaned up.  Earlier this year the EPA issuedviolations against the site.
