Rocky River fire and police crews responded to a deadly residential fire Thursday morning.

The fire happened at a condo on the 22800 block of Lake Road in Rocky River.

Lakewood Fire Chief Scott Gilman confirms an 87-year-old woman has died in the fire.

At least one person is being transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, according to fire officials.

The fire climbed through the walls and opened a hole in the roof, according to Gilman.

The flames continued to billow from the roof. Wind chill values continued to drop below freezing as five agencies—Lakewood, Bay Village, Fairview Park, Avon and Westlake— assisted Rocky River fire crews to put out the flames.

The Ohio State Fire Marshal was called to assist other agencies at the scene.
