In a little over a year, a parking lot at West 25th and Detroit in Ohio City has turned into a large apartment complex.

“We get a lot of questions,” said Zoe Adams, Snavely Group marketing director. “People ask, ‘What is going on here?’"

The Quarter will have 194 apartments. The Music Settlement, a grocery and other businesses will be on the first floor. The project cost 60 million. Apartment prices have not been set yet. Adams thinks the location will draw people in.

“We’re right in the heart of Ohio City, but we’re right across the bridge from downtown.”

One hundred contractors are working six days a week in order to welcome the building's first residents in June.

Ashley Shaw, Ohio City Incorporated Economic Development and Planning Manager, says it is one of the biggest projects the northern part of the neighborhood has seen in a while.

“It’s going to feel completely different,” she said. “It already does.”

The feeling on nearby West 28th and Detroit could change soon too. Construction is expected to start in early 2018 on Church + State. The mixed-use development will bring 158 units and retail space to the area.

Several nearby businesses, including a donut shop, are in the process of opening up.

“I think there’s been a lot of vacant lots, a lot of underutilized buildings. I think you’re going to see the streets become a lot more active, people-filled and community oriented,” said Shaw.
