NORTON, Ohio — A bridge in the New Franklin/Norton area has collapsed following days of non-stop rain and flooding.

The Kungle Road bridge collapsed overnight. Water can be seen rushing under the ruble in videos posted to Facebook.

The road was closed at the time of the collapse.

The road over the culvert has been deteriorating for quite some time and was closed for about a month before the collapse. The continuous rain made the road even worse and caused it to collapse.

County and city officials are currently working to determine who’s responsible between Norton, New Franklin and the county.

Councilwoman Bethany McKenny said that she has been communicating with leaders to determine a "safe and speedy resolution" to the damage.

McKenney said the immediate concern is preventing the water from backing up onto properties and homes.

Norton crews removed debris pushed down the culvert by the heavy rains to prevent the water reaching properties.
