Woman robbed of engagement ring, other valuables on towpath in Akron

AKRON, Ohio — A woman was robbed while walking along the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail in Akron on Saturday night, according to the Akron Police Department.

Around 10 p.m., a 32-year-old woman from Cuyahoga Falls reported she had been robbed on the towpath trail under West Market Street, police said.

The woman told police a man struck her in the face with an unknown object and took her bag that contained an engagement ring, an iPod, Air Pods, identification cards and a can of cat food.

Paramedics treated the woman at the scene, according to police.

Police describe the assailant as a white man between 40 and 50 years old, around 5 feet, 8 inches or 9 inches tall, with gray hair and a goatee. The man was wearing a black zip-up hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
