CLEVELAND — Geraldo Rivera made good on his offer to buy drinks at a bar in Cleveland for government employees affected by the ongoing government shutdown on Friday.

He said on Twitter Thursday he would buy furloughed federal workers a drink at the Harbor Inn.

Sure enough, Rivera appeared at the bar late Friday morning and bought rounds of drinks for patrons who were there as well. While he was there, he spoke to reporters about the shutdown.

"The government shutdown is all politics," River said. "There’s a big feud going on obviously between the President of the United States and the Speaker of the House of Representatives. The problem with their politics is they have real-world implications. Real people – our friends and neighbors – are disadvantaged. Some of them are stressing right now, they missed their second paycheck. They haven’t been paid for the month of January. Put yourself in their shoes."

Rivera is currently living in Shaker Heights and is a host on WTAM 1100.
