The morning drive turned into a highway headache for west side commuters using the Shoreway bound for Cleveland Tuesday morning.
"The past couple of days it's been backed up. It's taking me twice as long," Evan McParland who commutes downtown for his job said.
Overnight, the road was completely closed as phase two of the Main Avenue bridge project got underway.
"They did an overnight traffic switch which completely closed the eastbound direction. We require contractors to have all lanes of traffic open by 6 a.m. and, unfortunately, they only had one lane open," Ohio Department of Transportation spokesperson Marissa McDaid said.
McDaid said two lanes of traffic will be open moving forward.
