Stark County woman struck, killed while assisting injured animal in roadway

TUSCARAWAS TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Stark County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian that occurred in Tuscarawas Township Friday evening.

Around 7:18, deputies responded to the 11000 block of state Route 241.

A pedestrian, later identified as 55-year-old Tina Marie Icenhower, of Massillon, had parked her vehicle partially in the northbound lane of SR 241 and exited it to assist an injured animal, deputies said.

A vehicle traveling south on SR 241 then struck Icenhower, according to deputies.

Icenhower was pronounced dead on the scene, deputies said.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to call the Stark County Sheriff’s Office at 330-430-3800.
