MASSILLON, Ohio — A woman shopping in Massillon was robbed as she walked to her car on Thursday afternoon, according to the Massillon Police Department.
Police responded to a parking lot outside of Marshall's on Massillon Marketplace Drive around 12 p.m. after the robbery had been reported.
The victim told police she walked to her car and saw an older male pretending to look for a cell phone he dropped under her car.
When she approached the car to help him look, the man grabbed her, took her purse and ran, according to police.
The purse was later found but the robber has not yet been identified, police said.
Police reminded shoppers out making their last minute purchases to stay aware of their surroundings as reports of theft, fraud and robberies increase during the holidays.
