Police have arrested a woman in connection to the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old man over the weekend and now Akron police are treating the shooting as a homicide.

According to the Summit County Medical Examiner, Tevael Parker, 22, was shot Saturday just after 1 a.m. near Weehawken Place and Dahlgren Drive. Police said officers found him lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the head. When paramedics lifted Parker up, a .22 caliber handgun was found underneath him.

He was taken to Akron City Hospital where he was pronounced dead that evening.

Detectives arrested Kerieda R. Beavers, 21, of Akron, and charged her with felonious assault and murder.

Police said they believe Parker and Beavers were arguing prior to the shooting. Beavers was heard saying she was going to kill Parker minutes before he was shot. She was booked in Summit County Jail.

Akron police are investigating the shooting as a homicide.
