CLEVELAND — Marshals believe a woman is responsible for murders in Cleveland and College Park, Georgia.

“It appears there was a meeting set up, folks didn’t know one another,” said Assistant Chief U.S. Marshal Brian Fitzgibbon.

A 21-year-old man was found in the vestibule of an apartment building on East 130th Street late last month. Detectives soon had identified two suspects.

When the U.S. Marshals became involved in the hunt for the alleged killers, they discovered one of those suspects, 21-year-old Emani Nickerson-Skanes, was wanted in Georgia for an eerily similar crime.

“A male victim was targeted and an agreement for prostitution or a date was involved,” said Fitzgibbon. “The person was then robbed and murdered."

Police believe Nickerson-Skanes lured the men, perhaps online, with a promise of sex or drugs.

U.S. Marshals tracked Nickerson-Skanes and 25-year-old Robert Foots to a suburb of Milwaukee, Wisconsin where they were arrested.

Foots was wanted by Wisconsin authorities for parole violations stemming from a sexual assault.

Both are in a Wisconsin jail waiting for extradition.
