CLEVELAND — It's clear that Baker Mayfield has fit in quite well with the Browns and Northeast Ohio, but this week he's getting the full Cleveland treatment and having a mural painted in his honor.
Brunswick High School graduate Jason Tetlak is back in his home state from Florida to paint a Mayfield-themed mural using his red-reveal style. The colorful abstract mural will feature overlying text which will reveal a hidden message when viewed through a red filter.
The hidden message: a well-known quote from Mayfield.
Tetlak, a Guinness World Record holder for his art, is also a lifelong Browns fan and is excited to create art that encompasses the fandom.
“There is a lot of excitement building around the upcoming season and about the future of the city in general. I think Baker really encapsulates that young, hungry mentality we have in northern Ohio right now, so he was a perfect subject. It’s like the whole area suddenly ‘woke up feeling dangerous,’” Tetlak said. “To have a piece here that my family and friends will be able to see when they cheer on the Browns this fall is definitely special.”
The mural will go up in Voinovich Bicentennial Park just outside of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and within eyesight of FirstEnergy Stadium.
Tetlak provided samples of what he will be working form and will begin painting the mural Thursday. Within the next few days we'll all get a look at the finished product.
