LIVE BLOG: Widespread overnight snow pummels parts of Northeast Ohio

Widespread snow pummeled many parts of Northeast Ohio Thursday night through Friday morning, leaving residents with slick roads and cars that turned into moving igloos. While the majority of the snowfall happened throughout the night, some residents are waking up to real-time snow globes.

TRAFFIC

Four cars were involved in a crash on I-271 southbound near Cedar Road that took one person the hospital.

As of 7:00 a.m., Westlake police are warning drivers to avoid Ridge Road between Dover Center Road and Glenmore for the next several hours due to a crash. The roadway will be closed until further notice.

Throughout the night, News 5 overnight tracker found several crashes. Canton police are investigating a fatal crash involving three carson Tuscarawas Street.

WEATHER

There's still some heavy snowfall in the prime snowbelt. Places like Geagua and Ashtabula Counties will get the brunt of the storm.

AROUND TOWN

Mobile igloos? Residents in Geauga County are waking up to their cars completely covered in a blanket of snow.

In Akron, snowfall is minimum with just some flakes floating around like a snow globe.
