Ward 9 Cleveland City Councilman Kevin Conwell says a development project being discussed by city councilors could revitalize areas of East 105th Street in Glenville.

"The plan will start this year as long as city council passes it,” said Conwell. "We’ll have millions of dollars going in here. You have to get the hardest hit areas. They’re looking for at least $64 million all together, for Buckeye and Glennville and other impoverished areas."

Conwell said the new mixed-use, mixed-income project will be funded by Cleveland’s Impact Fund.

"They need to stop playing with the money, the taxpayer's money and put the money back out to where the taxpayers can benefit,” said business owner, Abdul Shabazz.

“The taxpayers will help to stimulate it,” said Conwell. "I think it’s put at $8.5 million for the first phase."

Conwell said city council will vote on the issue next month.
