Cuyahoga Heights residents are demanding that an embattled school board member be removed from her position, alleging that she "was and is guilty of gross neglect of duty, misfeasance, malfeasance and nonfeasance of her duties, has willfully and flagrantly exercised power and authority not authorized by law, and as such is guilty of misconduct in office."

The complaint was filed against Dr. Holly Thacker on behalf of "electors of the Cuyahoga Heights School District." Last year, News 5 reported that parents wanted Thacker removed after the district's superintendent Tom Evans was placed on administrative leave without explanation.

The complaint alleges that Thacker:

  • violated the Ohio Open Meetings Act through the excessive and unwarranted use of executive session
  • violated the Ohio Open Meetings Act through reaching consensus and decisions in executive session
  • suppressed public comment and board member public comment including by unilateral action
  • made unilateral changes to board agendas
  • made unilateral self-appointments as legal liaison and misused funds
  • made unauthorized unilateral communication on behalf of the board
  • improperly used private email accounts
  • abused power in the hiring and personnel management process
  • abused administrative leave
  • engaged in conduct detrimental to the image and efficient operation of the board

The petition has 400 signatures.
