For Dave Haber who attended the event, it's one that is personal and close to the heart.

"My uncle was a firefighter so when I do this I think about him," said Haber.

Some riders who attended have been hitting the payment to show their support for years while some are experiencing it for the first time.

"My uncle was a firefighter so when I do this I think about him," said Ressa Christman of Norwalk.
