A Sheffield Lake lovebird was able to avoid jail time for spray painting a marriage proposal to his then girlfriend last month.

Kyle Stump, 21, was ordered to pay a $600 fine and perform 80 hours of community service for writing "Michelle marry me I love you 3-17-17 Familia" in red spray paint on a Shoreway Shopping Center wall.

Using his infatuation with the color red, Sheffield Lake police recommended Stump to put a fresh coat of red paint on the town's fire hydrants. The judge happily agreed.

Stump's girlfriend said yes to his proposal. It's unclear of the date for their wedding.
