State Route 8 has reopened at Central Interchange in Akron after a semi-tanker carrying 8,500 gallons of gasoline caught fire, The Akron Fire Department confirmed.
Fire crews responded with a HAZMAT response and were able to extinguish the fire before the tanker released any gasoline, fire officials said.
State Route 8 was closed at Interstate 77 and Interstate 76 until another tank could be brought in, so the gasoline could be transferred.
The Springfield Fire Department assisted with their tanker.
