ABJ: Harry Potter celebrates 36th Birthday, fans celebrate new book

Posted

The boy who lived is no longer a boy and fans everywhere are celebrating his birthday with the release of a new book.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a new book based on a play that is set in the Harry Potter universe and many bookstores are hoping for the same excitement of fans lining up for it's midnight release.

In addition to midnight releases, communities are coming together to honor the series with local events for all ages, as reported by the Akron Beacon Journal.

In Kent, Ohio, Potterfest kicks off this Saturday at 6 p.m. as Main Street Kent offers a potions class, a kids costume contest, and turns their Acorn Alley into Diagon Alley.

The Akron Rubber Ducks will have special Harry Potter themed activities in between innings at their game on Sunday, including pass the O.W.L.S. trivia contest and a Tri-Wizard Tournament relay race.

The Fieldcrest Estate in North Canton will be having a 24-hour movie marathon event, beginning Sunday at 7 p.m. and ending with the last movie starting at 12:40 p.m. Monday. They will be selling candy, food and butterbeer, and have inflated pools (minus the water) for rent on the lawn.
