The hugely popular podcast "Missing Richard Simmons" has people wondering: Is the man who brought us "Sweating to the Oldies," being held captive in his own home?
According to KABC-TV in Los Angeles, the answer is no.
The ABC affiliate television station reports that the Los Angeles Police Department recently did a welfare check on the fitness guru, age 68.
The detective described Simmons as a nice guy, funny, intelligent and articulate, saying Simmons "is just taking some time for himself."
Why all the fuss?
"The frenzy about Simmons' whereabouts is heating up thanks to the podcast, which is hosted by Dan Taberski, a filmmaker who describes himself as a friend of Simmons," reports KABC-TV.

About the podcast
As our Scripps colleague Mandy Gambrell writes in 3 things the 'Missing Richard Simmons' podcast taught me:
In his podcast, (Dan) Taberski interviews people who question why Simmons hasn't at least offered a reason or said goodbye to those he helped lead to better health, and to his good friends. The podcaster even takes a trip to New Orleans, Louisiana to reach out to Simmons' brother for answers.
