CLEVELAND — The Office may have ended more than six years ago, but the show will now live on in a new way.
Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey, better known as Pam Beesly and Angela Martin from the long-running NBC sitcom, have teamed up to create "The Office Ladies" podcast.
The idea came about when the duo was cleaning out Kinsey’s garage.
“Angela is a bit of a hoarder and keeps everything,” Fischer said.
The pair said while the were cleaning, they found memorabilia from the show and started reminiscing.
“We started chatting and telling stories and wanted to share with them with the fans,” Fischer said.
Fischer said she hasn’t seen the show since it aired but started re-watching after deciding to start the podcast.
The first episode was released earlier this week, and a new episode will be released every week.
Rainn Wilson, otherwise known as Dwight Schrute, will appear on the third episode of the podcast, and Kinsey and Fischer say more cast and crew will be on in later episodes.
Kinsey and Fischer said Netflix has brought a brand new audience to watch and love the show.
“Streaming has kept the show in people’s orbit,” Fischer said.
They think the show is relatable because even with the outrageous things that happen during some episodes, everyone can see a coworker in a character.
“Every kind of work environment has a Dwight and an Angela which is why I think so many people can relate to the show,” Kinsey said.
Kinsey and Fischer just finished recording episodes based on season one and are excited to start watching and recording for season two.
“We both love the Dinner Party episode, but I’m looking forward to shooting the Injury during season two since Pam and Dwight finally become friends, even if it’s only for one day,” Fischer said.
Although an Office reboot may not be possible, they have an idea of how the show can come back.
“It would be hard to do a reboot, but a reunion show, such as an Office movie, would be really special,” Kinsey said.
In case you were wondering, Fischer said Pam and Jim are still happily together, despite what Chrissy Teigen is tweeting.
