One Lakewood family has gone without heat for more than a month. Michelle Kamal says she paid the minimum amount due to Dominion Energy on Nov. 19. She said the company told her the gas would be on the next day, but it never happened.
News 5 reached out to Dominion for answers, but due to the holiday, offices were closed.
“It’s chili. It’s snowed the other day, and I was like oh no, is it going to snow in the house," Kamal said.
Kamal lives in the home with her two children and her autistic niece, and they can't even warm up with a shower.
To keep warm, the family is relying on two space heaters. However, one of them is already sparking, making Kamal worried to run it at all.
“Outlet is black. This is burned up, and my oxygen tank plug is burned up," Kamal said.
The family said Dominion claims to have the gas turned back on by Monday, and the family is hoping it warms up a bit before then.
