It's a debate that comes every year as millions of Americans sit at the table to feast during the biggest foodie event of the year: Thanksgiving.

Everyone has their favorite dishes and recipe preferences but one dish remains in the midst of a heated debate.

Is it stuffing or is it dressing?

According to the National Turkey Federation, and yes, that's a real thing, the word stuffing first appeared in the English language in the 1530s. However, Victorian propriety in America made the term "dressing" more acceptable and widely used in the South.

Call it dressing? Odds are you live in the southern region of the U.S. and you cook it separately from the bird.

But if you're a stuffing kind of family, you may cook it inside the turkey.

Whatever you decide to call this Thanksgiving favorite, most can agree it's versatility with ingredients makes it delicious!
