GEORGETOWN, Kentucky — An adorable puppy is recovering after it was tossed in a trash bag weighed down by rocks and dumped in a Kentucky creek, the Scott County Animal Shelter said.

On Tuesday, the freezing wet puppy, which appeared to be an Australian or Border Collie, was dropped off at the shelter by two men.

Caregivers at the animal shelter said someone put the puppy in a trash bag, then put her inside another bag with three large rocks, before dumping her in a creek in Sadieville on 32 and Boyers Chapel Road in Georgetown, Kentucky.

The puppy wiggled her head out of the bag and was sticking out of the water. One of the men spotted her and waded in the freezing water to rescue her.

Several hours later, the puppy was given the green light for a full recovery after she was examined by a veterinarian.

She has a congenital eye defect. The puppy is currently not up for adoption.
