AT&T getting rid of its 2-year contract option

AT&T will no longer offer 2-year phone contracts to its customers, starting in 2016.

CNN reported new and existing AT&T customers will only be able to get new phones by paying the full price upfront or making payments over time with the 'AT&T Next' option. 

The move is expected to take effect on Jan. 8.
