A record setting 1.3 million Cleveland Cavaliers fans packed downtown streets, and Mall B near city hall to celebrate the Cavs first NBA championship.
Now the city is left with the massive clean-up, hoping to get much of the debris clean-up in time for business as usual by Thursday morning.
A few fans, like Maria Roditis and Morgan Barnett actually volunteered, by picking up recyclables near Cleveland City hall.
Roditis and other fans told newsnet5.com that there simply were not enough garbage cans and dumpsters to handle such a large event.
"From the looks of it, all the trash cans are filled," said Roditis. "Maybe they should have brought a garbage bag, a garbage can."
The city of Cleveland wouldn't get specific, but we learned a 3rd shift has been added, and the city team of street sweepers and other heavy equipment have been brought into action.
Still despite the huge mess, some Cleveland leaders like Cleveland Police Third District Commander Patrick Stephens said this isn't the worst he's seen.
"You know these folks deserve it," said Stephens. "They've waited a long time for this. I've lived here since I was 8 years old. I haven't seen this. And these folks have lived here longer than me."
"This is no big wup. We've, do you remember New Years Eve 1999?"
And workers said a win for the city makes it all worth it.
