A 5 On Your Side Consumer Investigation takes a look into Toys 'R' Us and Babies 'R' Us stores on our area. There's a lot of confusion about what's happening this week after last week's big bankruptcy announcement.
The information coming from the stores is all over the place. When we visited, we found employees from store to store are not quite sure what's going on, but we are here to help you protect your purchases.
When we talked to numerous employees, we heard everything from the liquidation starts this Thursday to they don't know when to teams are coming in on Thursday for a meeting.
Some employees told us the Toys R Us website will be up and running weeks after the stores close and other employees told us the site will be shut down this week or next.
When we asked about returns, employees said get them in as soon as possible, today even or at the latest tomorrow, but a different employee said it will be up to the liquidation team as to whether or not returns will be taken.
Bottom line: Things are moving quickly at the stores. So, get your returns in now or tomorrow. If you have any gift cards, use them now. And get ready for the liquidation to start very soon. When you do come to the liquidation sales, pack your patience. There will be plenty of people in line.
We have reached out to the corporate offices of the stores. We have not heard anything back.
