Two Akron women were shaken up after a 14-year-old boy allegedly pointed a gun at them during a failed attempt to steal a bicycle.
Luckily, neither woman was injured.
The incident happened shortly after midnight on Saturday in the area of Lovers Lane and Arlington Street in Akron. One of the women had been treated at an Akron hospital for an illness, and they were alternating between walking and riding the bike towards their home.
The women said a car began creeping up behind them and continued to follow them for several minutes. At one point, the driver demanded their bike.
"I was scared. I didn't know. We just stopped," said one of the women who is 21 years old.
When they didn't give up the bike a teen in the passenger seat pointed a gun at them, according to the police report.
"That's when the little boy that was in the passenger seat kind of just stuck the gun out and just put it to the window. His window was rolled up, but he just put it up to the window just to basically show us that he had it," said the other woman who is 22 years old.
One of the women got a license plate number and called police. Officers stopped the vehicle nearby and arrested the driver for driving under suspension.
The 14-year-old boy in the passenger seat was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon and possession of drugs. Police found a fully loaded revolver, crack cocaine in a plastic baggy and a small amount of marijuana.
