AKRON, Ohio — Around 700 motorcyclists rode the streets of Akron to pay tribute to fallen police officers in the 20th annual Police Memorial Motorcycle Rally Sunday afternoon.
The group consisted of both officers and citizens.
The Akron Police Department had planned for this year’s ride to be the last because the detective who ran the event is retiring, but during the ride it announced the event would continue to be hosted.
The Police Memorial Motorcycle Rally began at South East Harley Davidson in Bedford Heights, then headed to the Akron Police Department for a short ceremony before making its way back to Bedford Heights.
