Akron police say a car that crashed into a pole on East Avenue late Sunday was being driven by a man that had overdosed on what they suspect was heroin.

Police said the driver was given two doses of Narcan by Akron firefighters and then taken to a local hospital.

The driver's condition is unknown.

The crash knocked down a utility pole and left wires hanging low over the road.

East Avenue was closed at I-76 while Ohio Edison repaired the damaged pole.
