Fire officials believe the flames that engulfed a large, vacant building in Akron early Thursday erupted after someone set a 55 gallon barrel near the structure on fire.
The fire broke out around 4:30 a.m. on Lovers Lane near Morgan Avenue.
An arson investigator at the scene told newsnet5.com's Mike Vielhaber that a 55 gallon barrel near the building had been set on fire.
Authorities say the fire is being investigated as an arson.
