Man charged for allegedly beating his mother, brother and dog with a metal crutch

A 54-year-old Canton man has been charged after he allegedly beat his mother, brother and dog with a metal crutch early Tuesday morning.

Donald Q. Genetin, 54, of 17th Street NW, Canton, was charged with domestic violence, felonious assault and prohibitions concerning companion animals.

Genetin was arrested at his home just after midnight.

Genetin allegedly used a metal crutch to hit his mother in the face, head, arms and body, according to authorities. He also allegedly punched his brother in the face and hit him on the head with the crutch.

The family dog was injured in the altercation and required emergency medical care, police said.

Genetin is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
