The owner of Melanie Lake Inc. said he was shocked and appalled when learning about the allegations of a mock rape scene at one of the haunted houses at Akron Fright Fest.
News 5 spoke with a couple Sunday night who is accusing the haunted house of subjecting to a mock rape scene without asking their permission or having them sign a waiver.
Owner Jeremy Caudill said they are investigating the allegations and trying to find out what happened.
"There is no place for anything like this at our park," Caudill said.
Caudill is working with the haunted house operator and taking some steps including:
- Suspending employees working in that area during the investigation.
- Hiring additional security and monitoring systems in each of the houses
- Donating a portion of their proceeds from the following two weekends to the Rape Crisis Center of Medina and Summit counties.
