A 14-year-old was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery and having a fake firearm after police said he pulled a BB gun on a resident during a lawn ornament theft.
Police said the boy was caught in the act stealing a ceramic bird lawn ornament from a Sunset Avenue yard at around 4 p.m. Wednesday. When the resident confronted the teen, the teen pulled out what appeared to be a handgun and threatened to kill the resident.
The teen walked away and the resident called police.
Officers responded and spotted a male matching the teen's description a few blocks away. They found a handgun, which turned out to be a spring-loaded BB gun with the orange tip removed, in his pocket, they said.
The teen was taken to the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center.
