The Summit County prosecutor announced on Thursday that Judge Todd McKenney sentenced Spirlin Edwards, 27, of Cleveland, to four years and 11 months in prison.
The prosecutor said on Jan. 15, jurors found Edwards guilty of inducing panic, two counts of telecommunications harassment, and two counts of aggravated menacing.
According to the prosecutor, in January of 2015 Edwards became violent with his ex-girlfriend, grabbing her and shoving her to the ground.
The following week, the prosecutor said, four tires on the vicitm's car were slashed while the car was parked outside of where she worked. The victim and her family began receiving numerous threatening text messages and emails which were traced back to Edwards. The text messages included Edwards threatening to kill the victim and her family, as well as burn down their home.
The prosecutor said on May 8, 2015, Edwards called in a bomb threat to Stow-Munroe Falls High School, causing the evacuation of close to 2,000 people. Phone records showed the call came from Edwards' mother's house, where he lived at the time.
