Susan Betts, 53, of Parma, was sentenced to three years in prison after she admitted to stealing more than $800,000 from her employer, Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh announced Thursday.

On Tuesday, Betts pled guilty to aggravated theft, a second-degree felony.

According to the prosecutor's office, Betts was employed as a comptroller for KB Bioenergy in Akron. From 2008 through April 2015, Betts stole $809,797.13 from her employer. She did this through purchasing personal items using company credit cards without permission, made fake expenses to her payroll account, and wire transferred money from the business directly into her personal bank account, all without authorization.

To date, Betts has paid just over $161,000 in court ordered restitution.
