AKRON, Ohio — A man on a mission to participate in Northeast Ohio’s thriving foodie scene was arrested Thursday for allegedly stealing frozen seafood from an Akron restaurant.

The 33-year-old man has been charged with burglary and theft, according to Akron police.

The man walked into a restaurant on West Exchange Street through the employee entrance, authorities said.

Once inside, police say he selected a choice sampling of frozen crab and eel, a refreshing bottle of Fiji water and some conveniently unattended headphones.

Alas, the would-be purveyor of stolen goods was arrested before he could broaden the palates of any customers by selling the purloined food outside to anyone who has never experienced the joy of sidewalk-sale eel.
