Phase I of construction includes the creation of an outdoor sporting facility, called Sports Force Parks, which will be made up of nine multi-purpose fields, four NCAA regulation baseball fields, a baseball and softball stadium, eight soccer and lacrosse fields, sport-specific training areas and an ADA-accessible community-use field.
Another area of the park will feature miniature golf, a ropes adventure course, a bungee trampoline and a playground.
Phase II include the development of biking trails and other scenic spaces.
Construction will begin after the groundbreaking on April 8 at 2 p.m.
It is set to be completed in fall 2016 and will open in spring of 2017.
