The Shutdown Trump & the RNC group held what was likely the Republican National Conventions first official protest on July 17.

Approximately 100 protesters from a dozen different groups held a three hour march from E. 34 and Euclid Avenue to Willard Park near Cleveland city hall.

The march was peaceful and highly organized, with only one arrest, after police said a man was taken into custody when he attempted to take a state trooper's gas mask.

Police were positioned in all areas along the route, using the mounted unit and the Cleveland police bike unit.

Protesters took their shot at Donald Trump's platform.

"We stand in solidarity with you all today in fighting back against Donald Trumps racist, anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim platform," said protesters.  "We have had enough of his attacks."

Members of black lives matter, the black on black crime committee, and Stop Donald Trump were also on hand representing more than a dozen groups.

Protesters pointed out what they called unfair treatment by members of the media.

"We have been demonized in the press in the media," said protesters.  "We have been criminalized in the Press and in the media.  We are not criminals we are freedom fighters we are freedom fighters."

Protesters also made it clear something must be done to improve the relationship between law enforcement and minority communities.

"There's something wrong with the system where day in and day out where videotaping of black people being slaughtered and executed in the streets or wherever their executed and not one cop is not even arrested," protesters said.

The Stop Trump Campaign will hold another protest on July 18 starting at noon at Mall "A" at St. Clair Avenue.
