CLE RNC vendors believe unregistered vendors are a potential safety issue

Posted

Dozens of vendors have set-up shop for the Republican National Convention, but licensed vendors are complaining unregistered vendors are a potential safety issue.

RNC vendors were supposed to fill-out an extensive application form to get their vendors license, which includes giving all of their contact information and their social security number.

But a group of registered vendors told newsnet5.com there are dozens of unlicensed vendors that are operating outside the cities three vending zones.

Licensed vendors said it's nearly impossible for a vendor to make a profit in the vending zones, and nobody knows the identity of vendor who are unregistered and are breaking the law.

They believe the licensing process gave the city the identity of these vendors and what they are selling.

Licensed vendors said it creates unfair competition, and they want the city to take action against unregistered sellers.

We contacted the Cleveland Police Department about  this issue, but we were told is was a concern for the department of licensing and assessment.

We also contacted the Cleveland Mayor's office, but we are still waiting for a response, as to whether the vendor licensing law will be enforced.
