A 4-year-old Cleveland boy took the family car for a short ride early this morning and crashed. His family said he was not injured, no cuts or bruises.
But it was still a scary situation that has neighbors in disbelief.
“I seen a little 4-year-old boy driving the vehicle and I’m like holy sh**.”
Douglas Shaw was sitting on his front porch this morning when he saw the four-year-old in the driver seat of the SUV.
"I heard the car go, I’m like I seen head pop up, I’m like, I didn’t see no one driving the car. But I seen him pop up,” said Shaw.
It happened around 7 a.m. this morning while the little boy's parents were sleeping. He took the keys to their Ford Explorer from a coffee table, hopped in, started the ignition and then drove into the neighbor's fence.
“I got him out of the car and checked him to see if he’s alright,” Shaw explained.
His girlfriend, Cecile Trembly, also helped get the boy out of the car and brought him inside to see if he was okay.
“When I saw the little boy, he was still in the truck. I was like, I was like in shock…and then I had him come in and I said are you hungry. And he said yeah,” she said.
Trembly said she was amazed by the 4 year old's ability to handle such a large vehicle.
“I don’t think it’s the first time he got behind the wheel.”
As for the fence, the couple says they’re not too upset. They just hope it will get fixed soon.
“Oh no, I’m not upset about that. They’ll have to fix it or get insurance ya know…I just don’t understand how the kid knows so much about driving,” Trembly said.
Police tell me the parents will not face any charges. They did reach out to child and family services...no word if they'll open an investigation.
