A 5-year-old girl and 16-year-old boy were shot in Cleveland's Midtown neighborhood Monday afternoon during a drive-by shooting.

The 16-year-old told police he was targeted and shot at by people in a 2016 red Dodge Durango at E. 37th Street and Capers Avenue. The boy said he recognized the people in the car as members of a gang called "BG."

The boy told police his brother is accused of killing a "BG" member and members of the gang are trying to kill him in retaliation. The boy said they have been trying to kill him for about a year, and have fired shots into his mother's house and his cousin's house trying to kill him.

The 5-year-old was shot in the leg and the 16-year-old was shot in the chest. Both were taken to MetroHealth and are in stable condition.

Police say there were two other victims of the shooting.
